Last week after 2 ½ months of being here with only one other
colleague, we happily received back the rest of our “family” here.
A few days after they arrived, one of them surprised me one
day. It was a hot day (40C or higher), and I had spent most of the morning
cleaning our friends’ house and most of the afternoon cooking for them.
Needless to say, I was hot, sweaty and tired.
This sister turned up with a bucket and a smile on her face.
Inside the bucket were cold drinks with a chunk of ice on top of them to keep
them cold. On top was a note that said, “Jesus wants you to be refreshed.”
She had walked 40 minutes in the hot sun carrying this
bucket just to refresh me? Not because I was sick, or needed medical treatment,
or money or anything in particular. No - just because Jesus wants me to be
refreshed.
Amazing. I thought to myself how much I’ve missed having
Christians around these past few months, and how wonderful it is to have them
back again! They are different! Jesus said we would know them by their love,
and well, it works!
