Catch-up

Whizzzz...where's the time gone?

The last few weeks have been full of fun things like spontaneous rain, humidity, sleeping on the roof, getting practically blown off the roof, sickness for Ben and Yan and lots of mint tea.

Ben and Yan both relapsed last week. Thankfully, Ben was only sick for 2 days. Yan had vomiting and didn't eat for 6 days and is only now just beginning to eat again. Somehow that hasn't stopped him from standing up a few times on his own, shuffling along and (today!) climbing up on a bed, only to fall off again!

One night last week I was feeling particularly stressed, tired and down. I was exhausted, Ben was sick, and Yan had spent most the day vomiting. We went to bed at 9pm and I was excited at the prospect of getting a good night's sleep. Shortly after we set up "camp" on the roof, the local "Youth House" kicked off one of the loudest concerts I have ever heard them host. Their speakers point directly towards our roof, so there was no chance of getting any sleep until it was over. It finished at 2am and I fell asleep. At 3am Yan woke up to breastfeed since he had last so many of his liquids that day. Tired and struggling I sat up in bed, put him to the breast and looked up at the sky. Directly in front of me, the Southern Cross (a constellation) jumped out as the most beautiful thing I had seen all day. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. God is so merciful. Incredible. Even in the middle of the night, He was reminding me of His selfless, unconditional, strong love for me. The cross of Jesus is His evidence of that. Amazing.

The fight of faith continues in my heart. It's hard to see Yan losing weight and each meal is a fight to help him gain again. I feel weary of spending so much energy and time trying to help these two boys keep their weight up. Sometimes all I want is a magic pill, fondue machine or a good source of cream, cheese or chocolate to help me out! :-) But, God is with us. He is our Shepherd. We lack nothing.

Lili in the midst of it all is her usual cheerful self, making songs and rhymes out of the world around her. Her latest set of reading words are: mend, tend, bend, send, end, etc...

In the midst of it all, I've had a blast trying out a new aerobic workout. I am SO sore, that you know it must be good. :-) I workout 3 times a week while Ben takes the kids for a walk.

Hot season is upon us and we are sleeping on the roof most evenings now. It's peaceful.

Two days ago we got a drizzle of rain which is unheard of for this season. Again, God reminded me that He hears our prayers as we are praying hard for early rains in his region of drought and famine. While most whither in the hot humidity, it reminds me of Virginian summers and I am enjoying it!

It makes my hair go curly!
