Today there is a sound within ears’ reach that I never could have imagined when I first came here 10 years ago….the sound of a giant digger.
Imagine. There’s never EVER EVER been a paved road to this town. And now, after 4 long years, our house which has been 300 miles from the nearest paved road is about to be 300 feet from it! I must sound ridiculous. But, roads change towns, people and culture.
Now the once 2 day off-road journey to the capital city can be made in 9-10 hours on paved roads. Access to fresh fish, fruit and veggies has already gotten better. Who knows what else is to come!
If nothing else, these diggers transform my civil-engineer husband into a little boy with excitement at the sight of their big tires, strong arms and dirt flying everywhere!
Civilization, here we come!
